8.29.23 Waldron Lake Paddle

Fort Wayne, Indiana, kayaking, paddling, group, Waldron, Lake, Tuesday night

Quite a nice evening on Waldron Lake. We had our typically kayakers rain aversion, as the rains stopped about the time we arrived and stayed away during our time on the lake. Beautiful evening, calm waters – and great cookies (and buckeyes!) afterwards (many thanks again to Louise!) We had 10 boats and 11 paddlers (Tad and Louise shared a canoe, while Keith was permitted to paddle his own canoe as he is now a big boy).

Speaking of Keith, at one point on our return journey a few of our paddlers pointed to Keith across the lake and said they were concerned that he hadn’t moved from that spot for quite some time. One of the concerned paddlers, a female, said she would have gone over to check, but feared he could be relieving himself (although why he would do so right in front of a few houses would be a matter of speculation…).  The other paddler worried he might be in the process of expiring. But it was nothing so exotic; Keith just had taken a call from a worried neighbor concerned about another neighbor. So we all returned – in one piece – and called it a great night.  Also along the way we saw a few trees just full of cormorants, a very rare sight.
