5.27.25 FW Kayaking Group: Dallas Witmer Lake Chain

Although earlier reports threatened rain, our kayaker blessing held out and we ended up with a pretty nice evening on the waters of the Dallas Lake chain. 5 of us showed up, almost all assuming we were late, but “when we’re all late, nobody’s late”. 🙂  Andy and Linette came out, in spite of the wind and waves, and we had a new-to-the-group paddler Rick, along with Mike and myself. Crossing Witmer was kind of entertaining, with some fairly good side waves, but Westler was a bit more settled. As we entered Dallas, Rick decided to return, followed very shortly thereafter by Andy and Linette. But Mike and I figured we had invested sufficient time in driving there that we should get a greater return on our investment, so we continued on through Dallas, Hackenberg, and Messick into the far pond and back, racking up a total of 8 miles. Upon return there were no cookies, but we were treated to a pretty sunset that broke through the cloud cover. Many thanks to Mike for calling a great paddle!
