7.14.25 FW Kayaking Group: Dallas Lake

Stellar, Dallas Lake, Fort Wayne, kayaking, paddling, group, Indiana, surf ski paddles, Messick Lake

We had a mighty fine evening on the water, paddling the Dallas Lake chain. Somehow the high temps didn’t feel bad once we were cruising along on the water. From what I recall, Mike, Fred, Keith, Ray, Steve E., Andy, Linette, and I pretty much rounded things out at the start, with Doreen joining us on Westler Lake as she paddled over from her home on Dallas Lake. The plan was to allow Doreen to test out a Greenland paddle, but all our Greenland paddle aficionados skipped town. They must have feared my wing paddle…  So I let Doreen test out a wing paddle, and otherwise we all just paddled along our merry way, in a sort of “choose your distance” paddle. Most turned back at the top of Dallas Lake, but Mike and I went all the way to the pond on Messick Lake. Doreen paddled with us to the beginning of Messick before turning back, and Ray came long quite a ways as well. Upon returning, Keith channeled his inner Louise and supplied us with a generous helping of cookies that tasted mighty fine at the end of an almost 8 mile (for the longest distance) paddle!
