Sylvan Lake 8.23.25

Stellar, Falcon, surf ski, paddling, racing, recreational, Fort Wayne, Sylvan Lake, Indiana, group

In spite of some degree of storm threat, we actually had a very nice evening on the water of Sylvan Lake.  In fact, the cloud cover shielded us from the sun and made it all the nicer. Only 5 paddlers this week, with 2 canoes, 3 kayaks, and 3 types of kayak paddles! Keith and Steve E. paddled the canoes. In the kayaks, Mike was using a standard Carlisle paddle, I had my wing paddle, and Fred was trying out the unique paddle Doreen had passed along. At some point he and Mike switched so Mike could try it out as well. They made it work, although it took a bit of getting used to.

We all made it to the far east basin, where Fred and the canoes turned to head straight back. Mike and I extended our paddle to explore a bit more and to take in the northeast basin. As we returned we were sprinkled on a bit, but it just felt good. Once back at the ramp we put our boats away,  ate some delicious Louise cookies (thanks Louise!), wished Fred a happy birthday,  and high tailed it out of there as the rains returned, and a bit heavier this time!
